Hey Frank. We are paying US$10 a gallon over here. Thats £1.22 a litre in our world. Which is absolute crap and needs something doing about it since HALF of my current salary is going on fuel right now. It makes me want to scream. And also laugh so much at the guy in the pick-up.

Wow! Scarier to me is that here in CT, we’re only 10 cents behind you - it was 3.77 yesterday. Awful, awful, awful.

LOL! That is so funny! We are at 3.70 here in GA…. UGH! Anne-Marie, I feel for you. I agree something needs to be done. This is insane.

I think he bought the truck because he was hating life and looking to compensate, and look what happened. LOL.

Between the crazy tight parking on my new street and the cost of gas, I only use my car when I have to haul stuff around, like groceries. Other than that, I’m taking the bus to work, and walking. Socializing is out, unless you come see me, heh heh.

Hey! Watch it there, man! I drive a Dodge quad cab with a hemi and I’m lovin’ it! Of course, I drive only 4 miles to work and my son has a performance shop and has done some things to it to improve the gas mileage :-)

We’ve toyed around with the idea of getting a couple of driving horses and a buggy. We live in Amish country, so why not? Or if I get a comfortable saddle, I might just be showing up at my son’s football games on a horse…I know that’s not an option in L.A., but here….who gives a rip? Prices here are at $3.59 today in WI. Hubby works over the road(company pays the gas bill for the rig) and I stay at home, so we’re driving a big gas hog…Heavy Duty GMC Sierra (because we really don’t have to drive much.) Now that the weather’s nice, the bike is coming out and I’ll make the 4 mile trip to the grocery store for small shopping trips. Maybe I’ll finally get in shape!

I lost a salary when I quit my part time job, but really it’s saving us money in the long run. I have more time to ride bike for errands, have time to have a garden now and make my own canned goods. I can prepare meals from scratch instead of using the preservative laden expensive processed foods, and I have far less stress in my life. I don’t look at it as a step backwards for a woman, but have to look at the benefits of an overall healthier lifestyle for my family.

I fortunately live 4 blocks from the hospital, 5 blocks from the grocery store, and 5 blocks from downtown shopping. I have a little Ford Ranger, but I am going to be using that for out of town trips. I want to get a tricycle (for big people) being 55, I do not want to fall over and break something. Mari said, “as long as nobody knows you’re my Mother.” So I told her “I’m going to get aTshirt that says, “Mari’s Mom.” And wear it every time I go anywhere on the tricycle. I could get a basket on the front, and hit the stores all I wanted. Mari and family just bought a little scooter, gets 125 mpg. Things are changing around this country, that’s for sure.

The guy in that truck probably doesn’t care. And if he were smart, he’d turn it off at red lights. But I guess it costs more to start it again than it does to idle.

I’m going to put in a garden that’s huge ! I have an area in the basement ideal for food storage. So this fall I’m going to can and freeze and store roots in the basement room. Its workable, but I live in a very small town, I can do it here.

    Good luck!

Well, just to cheer up you folks, we are paying $8.40 per gallon for premium and people are still driving like crazy here so I think gas needs to go up some more.
    I am in Germany.

:) I too drive a dodge ram, but I let the hubby drive it, now that I got me a convertible. Still, LOUSY gas prices.
