The day after, I wrote to my cousin, a fireman disabled in the line of work. I told him,” when everybody else is running away, firemen in NY were writing their SSN on their arms and legs and running in to the World Trade Centers. I realized that firemen were willing to risk their lives to help. So, thank you.” He called me up, crying, to thank me for my email. He also sent it on to every other firefighter he knew.
If only we didn’t have to though . . . The world changed on that day and not necessarily for the better unfortunately. May the passing years bring peace and comfort to those who lost their loved ones, also those who live on maimed by their injuries and/or memories, and some humanity and empathy to those who thought (or still think) this was an appropriate action.

This is so sad. I watched it all. So sad.
